The Kano Zonal Command of the Nationwide Company for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Individuals (NAPTIP) has introduced that it rescued 285 victims and apprehended 22 human traffickers in 2024.
The Zonal Commander, Mr. Abdullahi Babale, disclosed this on Thursday throughout an interview with the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
Babale said that the 285 rescued victims included 78 males, 97 females, and 110 kids (64 boys and 46 ladies), aged between seven and 42.
“Out of the 285 victims, 53 have been victims of trafficking in individuals, whereas 232 have been survivors of sexual abuse, gender-based violence, and different associated points.
“The victims have been recommended and rehabilitated earlier than being reunited with their households. Moreover, we empowered 52 of them with empowerment kits.”
Babale revealed that the 22 arrested suspects consisted of 8 males and 14 females.
