The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the kidnapping of two Catholic reverend sisters alongside Ufuma Street in Orumba North Native Authorities Space of Anambra State.
The incident occurred late Tuesday, January 7, when the victims had been on their means again from their vocational affiliation’s assembly at Ogboji neighborhood in Orumba North LGA.
In a press release signed by the Secretary-Normal, Sisters of the Immaculate Coronary heart of Mary, Onitsha, Anambra State, Maria Ikeotuonye, the victims had been recognized as Vincentia Nwankwo and Grace Okoli.

Confirming the event, the Anambra State Police Command, spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged {that a} police-led joint operation is already ongoing for the doable rescue of the kidnapped victims.
In accordance with him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in control of operations had visited the scene for a spot evaluation
Ikenga mentioned, “Police-led joint operation is already ongoing for the doable rescue of two Catholic nuns allegedly kidnapped alongside Ufuma Street, Orumba North Native Authorities.
“The unhappy incident occurred within the night of yesterday 7/1/2025 when the nuns had been coming back from a vocational service assembly in Ogboji.
“The command is already working with some clues for the doable arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victims. Additional particulars shall be communicated, please,” he added.
